Are Institutional Investors Really Embracing Bitcoin?
In recent months, we have seen the increased demand and interest surrounding cryptocurrencies, specifically Bitcoin, with retail investors. With news that BNY Mellon, HSBC and now JP Morgan are not only developing platforms to allow clients to transfer digital currencies, but also issuing cryptocurrencies on behalf of its asset management clients, the intrigue is firmly on the Institutional side as well. This new asset class brings about many questions as client demand for digital assets continues to increase surrounding the opportunities and risks that comes with this largely unregulated currency. How will digital currencies impact markets and Fixed Income as a whole? Are firms really looking at integrating digital currencies into their investment portfolios? During this session we will take a step back to understand the basics of Bitcoin while also having the opportunity to discuss the many questions surrounding it with peers of the Institute.
