About

2020 is indeed over, but not so much the ramifications of the year. Adapting to major changes in the markets and finding opportunities amid continued uncertainty is important for investors. Fixed income has maintained an interest in investors' portfolios. However, with low-interest rate and the need to generate income the investors are casting their nets far and wide to diversify. Recent events have highlighted the need for diversification within the fixed income portfolio. The opportunities in bonds, securitized markets, and private credit as investors are finding private markets of major interest. There is a need to focus on fixed income and credit markets outside of the traditional asset classes to generate income and finding liquidity. What are some of these non-traditional subsectors and classes that investors are now focused on? This series will discuss the need to revamp and create portfolios for the future, to maintain stronger income generation down the road.

The series will have six episodes, with one episode each month. The focus of each episode will be built around different topics based on thought leadership from our asset management partners.

The webinar will be 90-minutes, based on a fireside chat with managers about their thought leadership piece and an allocators' panel, discussing their investment experience in the current time and opportunities for the future.

1:05 - 1:30 PM
Fireside Chat: In Today’s Low-Rate Environment of Corporate Credit, the Opportunity for Yield-Starved Investors May Be Hiding in Plain Sight

  • The below IG corporate credit loan and bond market is $2.3trl. Roughly 12% of this market is below <$400m of issuance size

  • The niche portion of this market is typically less competitive and often overlooked by larger managers and investors

  • Bank consolidation and increased regulation has forced banks to focus on larger companies and left small to mid-size corporate borrowers in need of financing

  • The overlooked portion of the market has created a supply/demand imbalance and driven lending rates higher

  • This has led to an attractive investment opportunity for allocators seeking a yield premium and stronger lending terms vs. broadly syndicated loans and bond
